“Look beautiful to feel better” project
“Look beautiful to feel better” is an international program created by the Fundación Stanpa which has been under development in various hospitals for over 25 years. The aim of the program is to help rebuild the confidence of women affected by cancer through small-group workshops. These workshops offer skin care and beauty advice to patients affected by the side-effects of oncological treatment. The workshops are run by professional beauticians and count on the collaboration of doctors, nurses, psychologists and cancer charity (AECC) volunteers. The impact of the program over the course of the years has been very positive, the workshops have been widely accepted and helped around 1,4 million patients. The side-effects of oncological treatments go deeper than just the medical consequences. Through the patient testimony we learn of through the workshops we discover how 12 simple steps can significantly improve mood and help to make the burden easier. Among other tips, patients learn to use makeup to restore natural skin tone, recreate lost eyebrows and brighten up eyes.
