It’s a fact. The XL mane is making way for the new kid on the block, midi hair. More and more women are giving their hairstyle a fresh and youthful feel by going for the chop. It’s a really wearable length that is versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways. Before checking out the 5 haircut ideas we’re offering you today, we want to talk to you about what we consider defines midi hair.
Midi mane
Although there are no set rules, the medium mane should be cut between the jawline and just above the chest. We could say that it’s a middle ground in between the famous bob cut and an XL mane. Now we know exactly what we’re talking about when we say midi mane, let’s check out some of the styles that we like best. The LOB
It’s a longer version of the bob. This cut is usually shoulder-length, a little longer, leaving the front slightly longer than the back to give the look added personality. It’s young, really comfortable and perfectly suited to straight or wavy hair. It’s also versatile, so we suggest you try playing around with different textures. Combine it with some babylights or balayage to make it brighter and give it added movement. Recommendation: if you wear a side part it’ll give you more volume at the front.
Asymmetric mid-length mane
This cut is longer at the front and shorter at the nape of the neck. This V shape will give your hair added body and texture, ideal if you have fine hair. And best of all? It works really well with both straight and wavy hair.
This look is especially flattering on round face shapes, although it can work well with pretty much any face type.
Layered mid-length mane
Extra movement to go! Medium length manes tend to rely on well-defined layers to soften sharp contours and give hair a gentler and rounder profile. If, as well as layers you add some choppiness to the ends the result will be a more modern finish. As in the previous examples, this haircut looks great with loose waves. The overall effect is a look that’s young and easy going.
Blunt shoulder-length
If you have very fine hair then this is the look for you. It’ll add volume and texture. It’s a completely straight cut but with the ends worked a little with a blade. We recommend this look to create a most natural feel. Remember to apply a little Arganology to the ends for added nourishment and shine. When it comes to hair color, what about combining the cut with some balayage or babylight highlights for guaranteed success?
Midi hair with bangs
It’s the ideal accessory for this hair length. Wear it like Dakota Johnson, with long curtain bangs that lay open at the center. You’ll look amazing!
