Mohawk: the most rebellious and daring cut around
09/07/2021
What do Pink, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus have in common? Aside from their great singing voices, all three have tried the most radical and rebellious cut of the moment: the mohawk. Do you know which is the best way to wear it? Keep reading.
The mohawk, also known as the mohican, consists in cutting the hair on both sides of the head to leave a central section longer, like a crest. The biggest advantages to this type of cut is that it can be done with any length and texture, it’s really cool (ideal for the hottest summer months), it’s unisex and allows for wide variations in style. If you’re asking yourself if it could suit you then we have to say that it suits pretty much any face shape except long oval faces.
The origins of this look go back to the 80s, when it became a standard do within the punk rock culture. Currently, this hairstyle has cut its ties with music and become another great example of modern street style.
Fans of the mohican tend to be young and not belong to any specific tribe, even executives and business men/women opt for this hairstyle thanks to its stylish versatility and comfort, and is especially flattering on women with an oval or round face shape.
How to wear the mohawk?
Wet look: comfortable and modern style, perfect for both day and night. To get the wet look right use a walnut sized amount of our Wet Gel Rock from the Pro.Line range. Apply to damp hair and shape with a wide-toothed comb away from the face.
Choppy: if you want to give the look a bad-boy edge, use styling dust at the roots and flick the ends off in different directions.
Hollywood waves: if you want something even more extreme, that’s perfect for the evening, then we suggest incorporating some waves. To get the look apply a couple of drops of our Grapeology hydrating serum all over your hair. Then select strands and shape with a wand. If you want even stronger curls then take thinner strands and if you prefer looser waves then separate larger ones.
If you’re searching for a new look for your hair then why not try out this radical new look?
