Style guide: how to get and care for choppy bangs

We already revealed the secret to you some months ago: bangs are back in all shapes and forms. Today we want to tell you all about the coolest and most cutting-edge bangs around; choppy bangs. Will you give them a chance? We know that choosing bangs can be a risky and difficult decision to make. That’s why we want to make sure you have all the information you need about what they are and who they suit before deciding whether to take the leap or not. Today we’re going to fill you in on choppy bangs, a light and fine style that’ll give you and casual and natural finish.

What are choppy bangs?

They’re bangs created using specific tools (scissors and/or blade) and cutting techniques to remove volume and weight at the ends of the hair to create a much lighter and finer finish. When it comes to length, these bangs tend to be eyebrow height, we’ve even seen them below eyelashes, as seen on Kate Moss.

Who do choppy bangs suit?

One of the biggest advantages of these bangs, when compared to thicker or shorter options, is that they can be adapted to suit any face shape or haircut and, as they’re so light, they soften angular facial features. They’re ideal for dark hair (which normally hardens the angles of the face).   If you’re wondering if choppy bangs are suitable for all hair types, then the answer has to be no. They’re best suited to fine, soft and straight hair. If your hair is curly or frizzy then they’re best avoided.

How to style choppy bangs

Unlike other bangs, they’re lighter nature makes them easier to manage. They’re soft and manoeuvrable, so with the right styling products they can be shaped in any way you like. If you want to create natural waves and give your hair some texture, then you should try Curl Foam 02, our light mousse from the Pro·Line range formulated with 3 thermo-protective keratins. If you want a straight and smooth finish then you can create the look with Liss Foam 01 from the Pro·Line range, a mousse which eliminates frizz and makes flat iron styling much easier. Its complex Kera-3 System formula includes 3 types of keratin which penetrate the hair fiber and coat the cuticle, improving hair resistance, softness and shine. Whatever finish you want your bangs to have, hold them in place with Nature Lac from Pro·Line, ideal for getting strong and shiny finished results that won’t leave your hair stiff or sticky.

How should I take care of my choppy bangs?

Hair grows about 0,4 inches a month. Although you might not normally notice much change, you will notice your bangs growing. That’s why you should book a salon appointment once every couple of months. When it comes to caring for your bangs, if you like to get plenty of use out of your hair dryer or styling tools, then we recommend adding the Straightening range to your routine. The shampoo and spray are ideal for straightening and making sure the effects last longer. Thanks to its components, it protects your hair from heat by creating a protective film which coats the hair surface. So now you know whether choppy bangs could be the right thing for you, so why not try out the trend?
